🙏 Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father,
As we begin this time of Advent waiting, open our hearts to hear Your call.
Grant us eagerness to walk in the way You show us, teach us to serve with joy and compassion, and make us ready for the coming of Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

🎯 Application for Catholics & Catechumens in Singapore
-
Waiting with hope – In Advent we wait. The first reading invites us to trust that God is guiding us. For catechumens: this is your time to open ears and hearts to the “word behind you” saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
-
Being teachers and healers – The Gospel challenges us: if we have received without cost (God’s mercy, healing, word), we are called to give service freely. In our community (family, parish, workplace) ask: how can I share God’s compassion and healing?
-
Recognising our vulnerability – The people in Isaiah had experienced weeping, hunger, affliction. The Psalm acknowledges broken hearts. We in Singapore live in many comforts, yet there are those who are lonely, anxious, marginalised. The Lord’s mercy is for them—and He calls us to be part of it.
-
Mission-mindset – Jesus sends out the disciples. For catechumens, this day reminds you that entering into the Church means joining in mission: not just being received but becoming a missionary of Christ’s love in your context. For Catholics, renew your readiness to serve.
-
Personal readiness – Advent invites preparation: not just for Christmas but for the Lord’s coming at the end of time and each day. Listen for the Word (“This is the way”), and choose to walk it.
🙌 Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ,
You came to seek and save the lost, to teach, heal and bring hope.
Send us out with courageous hearts, ready to proclaim Your Kingdom, serve others without counting cost, and stand firm in the way You set for us.
May the Holy Spirit fill us, the Father guide us, and the Son dwell in us, now and always. Amen.
