📖 Mass Readings

Monday, 12 January 2026

Monday of the 1st Week in Ordinary Time

🛐 Opening Prayer

Let us pray.

Lord God,
You reveal Your saving power through the preaching of Your Son
and call all people to conversion and faith.
Grant that, hearing Your Word with trust,
we may follow Him without delay and come to eternal life.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

📖 Liturgy of the Word

First Reading

1 Samuel 1:1–8

Elkanah has two wives. Hannah, though deeply loved, is barren and suffers greatly. In her pain, she continues to trust in the Lord, teaching us perseverance in prayer even amid misunderstanding and sorrow.

💡 Reflection & Application

(For Catholics & Catechumens)

1. Perseverance in Prayer

Hannah teaches us that prayer is not about quick results, but faithful trust. God listens even when the answer takes time.

👉 Ask yourself: Do I continue praying when life becomes difficult?

2. Immediate Response to God

The disciples leave their nets immediately. Following Jesus requires courage and trust.

👉 Ask yourself: What “nets” — habits, fears, distractions — might God be asking me to let go of?

3. Ordinary Time, Extraordinary Grace

God works powerfully in ordinary days. This week is not “just another week” — it is another chance to grow in faith.

🛐 Closing Prayer

May your Sacraments, Lord,
give us strength and courage,
that renewed in body and spirit,
we may serve you with faithful hearts.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
