🙏 OPENING PRAYER
Lord our God,
as we enter this season of Advent, open our hearts to Your coming.
Remove all fear and doubt, and strengthen us with trust in Your saving power.
Grant that, hearing Your Word today, we may walk in faith, hope, and charity.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
📖 FIRST READING — Isaiah 11:1–10

A shoot springs from the stock of Jesse, a branch grows out of his roots.
The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him—
the spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, courage, knowledge, and fear of the Lord.
He shall judge the poor with justice.
The wolf shall live with the lamb,
the leopard lie down with the kid,
and a little child shall lead them.
They will not harm or destroy on all My holy mountain.
On that day, the root of Jesse shall stand as a signal for the peoples.

🕊 SIMPLE EXPLANATION (For Catholics & Catechumens)
1️⃣ Isaiah’s prophecy: A new world of peace
Isaiah announces a Messiah from the line of Jesse (King David’s father).
This Messiah will rule not by violence but by justice, wisdom, and the Spirit of God.
The peaceful animals represent a world restored from sin into harmony.
Message:
Jesus brings true peace—not just absence of conflict, but renewal of hearts.
2️⃣ The Psalm: A prayer for a just King
Psalm 72 describes the ideal king who protects the weak, restores justice, and brings peace.
Catholics believe this is fulfilled completely in Jesus Christ.
3️⃣ The Gospel: Childlike hearts receive revelation
Jesus rejoices in the Holy Spirit because the humble understand God better than the proud.
Intellectual pride blocks grace, but simple trust opens the soul to God.
Message:
Childlike faith ≠ childish thinking.
It means humility, trust, and openness to God’s love.
💡 APPLICATIONS FOR LIFE
✔ Become “childlike” again
Let go of pride, anger, or fear.
Open your heart simply and honestly before God.
✔ Seek justice and peace
Be fair, merciful, and compassionate like the Messiah described by Isaiah.
Bring peace to your home, workplace, and relationships.
✔ Let the Holy Spirit guide your decisions
Pray for the spirit of wisdom, understanding, and courage—like the Spirit resting on Jesus.
✔ Hope in God’s promises
Advent reminds us:
God always fulfills His promises, even when it takes time.
🙏 CLOSING PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
thank You for revealing Your love through Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah.
Grant us the humility of children and the courage to walk in Your peace.
Fill us with the Spirit of wisdom and understanding so we may live each day in Your grace.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
