Turn Away From Sin and Keep Your Heart Open to God

1 Corinthians 5:1–8 — Do Not Become Comfortable With Sin

Paul warns the Christian community about sexual immorality and the danger of allowing serious sin to continue without repentance.

Sin can slowly affect our lives and even influence others around us. We should not make excuses for sin or treat it as something normal. Instead, we should ask God for the grace to turn away from sinful desires and live according to Christ.

When someone falls into sin, our purpose should not be to gossip, condemn, or humiliate them. We should hope and pray for their repentance and return to God.

Reflection: Is there a sin in my life that I have started treating as normal?

Psalm 5:5–7, 12 — Walk in God's Ways

God is holy and does not approve of wickedness, dishonesty, and deceit.

We will sometimes fall because we are weak, but God calls us to repent and return to Him. We should be honest with God about our sins and trust in His mercy.

Stay away from sinful ways and take refuge in the Lord.

Reflection: Are there dishonest or sinful habits that I need God's help to leave behind?

Luke 6:6–11 — Do Not Let Your Heart Become Hardened

The scribes and Pharisees watched Jesus closely, looking for a reason to accuse Him. Even when Jesus healed a man, their hearts remained hardened.

We can sometimes behave in a similar way. Pride, jealousy, or resentment can make us focus on someone's faults instead of seeing the good that God is doing through them.

We should not wait for someone to make a mistake so that we can embarrass or bring them down. Instead, we should examine our own hearts.

Jesus also teaches us that doing good and showing mercy should never be ignored.

Reflection: When someone succeeds or does something good, do I rejoice with them, or do jealousy and pride enter my heart?

Turn Back to Christ

Do not become comfortable with sin. Do not allow pride, jealousy, resentment, or deceit to control your heart.

When we fall, let us repent and return to Jesus. When others fall, let us pray for their conversion instead of humiliating them.

Lord Jesus, give us clean hearts, help us turn away from sin, and teach us to walk in Your truth, mercy, and love. Amen.
