Let Jesus Make Us New

Sometimes we are quick to look at other people and judge what they are doing. But Scripture reminds us that God sees what we cannot see — the heart.

God Knows Our Hearts — 1 Corinthians 4:1–5

God is our final judge. We should be careful not to judge the hidden motives of others because we do not know what is truly in their hearts.

God knows our thoughts, intentions, and reasons for doing things. Instead of looking for praise from people, we should try to live faithfully before God. In the end, it is God's judgment that matters.

Trust in the Lord — Psalm 36(37):3–6, 27–28, 39–40

We are called to trust in God and do good.

We can make plans, but we should place them before the Lord and allow Him to guide us. Sometimes His way may be different from what we expected.

Turn away from evil and choose what is good. When life becomes difficult, run to God instead of away from Him. He is our refuge, protector, and strength.

Jesus Makes All Things New — Luke 5:33–39

Jesus describes Himself as the Bridegroom. While the Bridegroom is present, there is a time for joy. But Jesus also says that a time will come when His disciples will fast.

Through the examples of the new cloth and new wineskins, Jesus teaches us about the new life He brings.

Jesus did not come simply to destroy what God had revealed before. He came to fulfil God's plan and bring us into the New Covenant.

But sometimes we become comfortable with our old ways. We may say we want to follow Jesus while refusing to change.

Following Christ means allowing Him to change our hearts, our thinking, and the way we live.

Reflection Questions

• Do I judge other people's motives without knowing what is in their hearts?

• Am I seeking God's approval or the praise of people?

• Do I truly trust God with my plans?

• What evil or sinful habit is God asking me to leave behind?

• Am I willing to let Jesus change my old ways?

• What part of my life do I need to surrender to Christ today?

God knows our hearts. Trust Him, choose what is good, and allow Jesus to make you new.
